Handmade Artisan Jewelry

Inspired by a Renaissance-style gathering put on by a group from the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where people came dressed in pre-17th-century Europe themed attire. Dressed in fashion of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, they make a day of enjoying tournament activities, socializing, handcrafting workshops and, at the end of the day, a royal feast including entertainment and dancing.

In this time in history, Norse women of stature Viking era often wore "treasure necklaces" to display their wealth. These beaded cascade necklaces were filled with colorful glass and metal beads that draped the bodice, attached on either side by large shoulder brooches to their outer garments.

With the style and design of these pieces in mind, Bits n Beads by Gilliauna has begun designing historical reenactment jewelry spurred by the beautiful costumes these women wore.
